Pennsylvania Septennial Census
Paper copies of the State Septennial census for Chester County. This is a state census of taxable adults (usually males of legal age). It was taken every seven years beginning ca. 1800 (1800, 1807, 1814, 1821, 1828, etc.) for most townships. The Septennial census is an alphabetical list of names that sometimes includes occupations. The purpose of this census was to help the state calculate local representation at the state level.
