Marshalton Inn ~ 1300 West Strasburg Road, West Chester, PA 19382

The Marshalton Inn (built ca. 1814) is just over 200 years old, but the history of Marshallton goes back more than a century earlier, when Abraham Marshall settled at Castle Rock in about 1705. Abraham donated a log building for the Bradford Friends Meeting in 1727 and his son, Humphry Marshall, built his splendid house in the 1770s. The Revolution swept by during the Battle of Brandywine and the Valley Forge encampment.  This talk will touch on the first hundred years of growth and some of the people who lived here. Come and hear what taverns were like in the 18th century and what roads were like before PennDOT.

History on Tap brings history to you in the casual atmosphere of your favorite local bar or restaurant. There will be lots of great food and drink available for purchase. The program is free for the community to enjoy! Generously sponsored by Susquehanna Bank, and WCHE 1520AM. The portable sound system is sponsored by Colleen and Basel Frens.
