CCHS's library will be closed January 1 - 31, 2015 for our "January Big Dig" to address a backlog of valuable library materials which require cataloging, rehousing, and processing. Our goal is to better fulfill the 4,000-plus research requests we receive annually. Because of this, CCHS's library will be closed in January 2015 and reopen in February. No research or photo requests will be fielded during this time at CCHS. Our library staff is excited about the January Big Dig. We will enhance item retrieval, improve indexing, catalog new collections, and rehouse existing materials. All of this means better service for our thousands of annual patrons.

In the heart of historic West Chester, PA, the Chester County Historical Society (CCHS) preserves and shares the remarkable story of the area's past.  Explore over 300 years of history through rare documents, photographs, and newspapers in our research library, seven galleries filled with engaging exhibitions, and special school and public programs year round.   From George Washington and the Battle of Brandywine to the Underground Railroad, Civil War, and Civil Rights,  CCHS holds keys to the past for you to discover.
