Fighting the Monster: Stop Human Trafficking in Chester County!

Wed., June 18, 2014, 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Chester County Historical Society

225 N. High Street, West Chester

Four years ago, 24 men and women from Latin America came to Chester County to work in the landscaping industry. Their visas were stolen. They were forced to work without pay. Their families were threatened and assaulted to compel them to keep working. This is just one case of many of human trafficking in our community.

How can you help stop human trafficking? How can you help prevent it? Could you identify and report a case? Learn how at Fighting the Monster.

On “Juneteenth” in 1865, soldiers first enforced the Emancipation Proclamation. Let’s finish the job.

Program by:

  • John Rafferty, attorney at Friends of Farmworkers, who represents survivors of labor trafficking.
  • Carol Metzker, author of Facing the Monster: How One Person Can Fight Child Slavery and volunteer at Dawn’s Place, local residence for survivors.
  •  PA Senator Andrew Dinniman, prime co-sponsor of SB75, a comprehensive bill to end and prevent human trafficking, and to help survivors in Pennsylvania.

RSVP: 610-692-4800 or rsvp@chestercohistorical.org. Suggested minimum donation $5 for Friends of Farmworkers.

Sponsored by the Chester County Historical Society.
