Miss Mary Ingram Stille (1833-1935), who was born on Gay Street in West Chester, wore this dress. Miss Stille was a charter member of the DAR, a founder and vice president of the Chester County Historical Society, State Historian for 14 years, and a founder of the Chester County Hospital. She prided herself on having met every president from Buchanan to Hoover and had an extended chat with Lincoln. At the time of her death, at the age of 93, she was considered the oldest West Chester native.
