Dress, 1880-1882

Back To Era Ready-Made / Handmade

Burgundy and gold voided velvet and burgundy taffeta
Gift of Mrs. Frank Bodine

The bodice of this dress extends below the hips and features faux pocket flaps and a wired stand up collar. The style is reminiscent of a riding habit, but the swag across the front of the skirt affixed with a rosette restricts the wearer’s movement. The back of the dress features a gathered bustle and a detachable train.
